Spread the love

Starring Anita Kallen and Catherine Thomson

Chicago cabaret artists Catherine Thomson and Anita Kallen continue to celebrate women’s achievements in song and saga with a free performance of the HERstory series. Slated to perform on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the College of Lake County auditorium, the duo will celebrate the HERstory of the rabble-rousing women pioneers who won the right to vote for American women and those fighting to preserve it today.

They celebrate with music by Sondheim, Lennon & McCartney, the Sherman Brothers, Parton, Schwartz, Porter, and others. Together, they weave the story of women’s suffrage issues from second-class citizenship at the nation’s founding to the nail-biting final days in the fight for ratification of the 19th Amendment. The journey continues with present-day efforts to preserve and maximize the power of women to vote. In this presidential election year, it’s more important than ever to celebrate the power of the VOTE!

The three shows in the series include:

HERstory I: The 19th Amendment and the Power of the Vote

HERstory II: Trailblazing Female Firsts

HERstory III: A Century of Songwriting Sisters

The free show takes place at the College of Lake County Auditorium A011, 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake, IL on Thursday, August 22 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. For more information,  go to HERStoryMusicalShows.com.
