David Bottrell returns to the Rogue Machine with his latest journey into wit and wisdom. Bottrell manages to winnow out turning points in his life and then present them to audiences with his classic comedic flair. To quote Broadway World, “Bottrell’s storytelling is a mesmerizing journey, unveiling subtleties and deep humor even in the darkest moments…brings brilliance to the boards.” Recently presented to theater audiences in New York, where it captured critical acclaim, DEAR MR. BOTTRELL, I CANNOT POSSIBLY ACCEPT THIS will charm Los Angeles audiences in July 2024.

The show spotlights several vignettes taken from Bottrell’s life, including taking singing lessons with a wacky lady of limited talent, over-enthusiastic weight loss which triggers praise regardless of the outcome, and working on keeping his sister out of prison. The title of the production outlines one of the most embarrassing – and very funny – missteps in Bottrell’s life. This is a mistake which cannot be taken back, an event which must be accepted before moving forward.

An actor/storyteller/writer who developed his first solo show, “David Dean Bottrell Makes Love,” way back in 2011, Bottrell continues to enchant and entertain his audiences with skill and subtle wit. His three hilarious solo shows have all been presented at the Rogue Machine to great reviews. The Los Angeles Times deemed his 2011 production as “hysterical…well-structured…deeply consoling.” Broadway World nominated him for Best Solo Theatre Performance in 2022 and 2023. And let’s not forget Bottrell’s acting appearances, both in sketches and TV shows, in venues like Comedy Central Stage, Acme Comedy Theatre, “Law and Order SVU,” “Blacklist,” “NCIS,” “Criminal Minds,” “Mad Men,” “Castle,” “Bones,” “Boston Legal,” and others too numerous to mention.

DEAR MR. BOTTRELL, I CANNOT POSSIBLY ACCEPT THIS is the culmination of Bottrell’s life and experiences, a blending of acting, storytelling, and comic delivery in a man whose gentle unassuming appearance harbors a keen observer with the ability to see the humor in life’s punches and pokes and share those insights with others. It is no wonder that he has amassed a large fan base who wait impatiently for his next crazy journey. By the way, in his spare time, Bottrell wrote “Working Actor,” which was recently published by Penguin Random House.
